Live Scoring
How scores get from the course to the leaderboard on a trip.
How it works
- One phone per group scores every player hole by hole in the trip portal
- Each saved hole goes to the server (queued on the phone if there is no signal)
- Leaderboards in the portal and dashboard refresh over a live channel, with a 30-second refresh as fallback
Setting up
There is nothing to switch on. Once a round has groups (and a tournament, if you want a leaderboard), any player in a group can open the round in the portal and score.
Per-round options:
- Tees — players pick their tee when they open the round if more than one is set
- Cross-group scoring — off by default; set the round setting
allow_cross_group_scoring(API) to let anyone score any card. Trip admins can always score any card.
Score entry
- Digit entry auto-advances to the next player; − / + nudge a score
- X records a pickup as net double bogey (0 Stableford points)
- Save & Next Hole saves the group’s scores and moves on
- At the last hole, Sign cards locks the group’s cards; only an organizer can unlock a signed card
Verification and corrections
- Signed cards are locked. To correct one, an organizer unlocks it (through the API for now), the group fixes the score and signs again.
- If two phones score the same hole, the newest entry wins; an older entry replayed from an offline queue is discarded with a notice on that phone.
Leaderboards
- Championship (all rounds), each round, Ryder Cup, skins, Nassau and Point Game boards
- Ties share positions unless the tournament uses a countback tie-break
- A player who missed a whole round ranks below those who played every round
- Show standings on a TV with the dashboard’s TV Display page
See Scoring Formats for allowances and tie-break settings.
