Overview

The Golf Management notification system delivers timely updates across multiple channels, ensuring you never miss important information about your golf trips. Whether you prefer email, push notifications, or checking the app directly, notifications adapt to your preferences.

Notification Types

Score & Competition

Stay updated on everything happening on the course:

  • Score Updates: Know when scores are entered or modified
  • Score Verifications: Confirmation that your submitted scores have been validated
  • Leaderboard Changes: See when your position moves up or down
  • Competition Results: Get notified when final standings are posted
  • Skins Won: Instant alerts when you win a skin

Round Notifications

Never miss an important schedule update:

  • Tee Time Reminders: Configurable alerts before your scheduled start
  • Schedule Updates: Changes to rounds, format, or other details
  • Group Assignments: Your playing group and pairing information
  • Group Changes: Updates when assignments are modified

Trip Notifications

For buddy trips with expense sharing:

  • Expense Added: New charges added to the group
  • Settlement Requested: Someone is requesting payment
  • Settlement Completed: Confirmation that debts are cleared
  • Wager Created: New side bets in your group
  • Wager Settled: Results when wagers are resolved

Delivery Channels

Choose how you want to receive notifications:

In-App Notifications

  • Appear in the notification center within Golf Management
  • Accessible via the bell icon in navigation
  • Shows unread count badge
  • Full history available for reference

Email Notifications

  • Delivered directly to your registered email
  • Option for instant delivery or daily/weekly digests
  • Critical notifications always sent immediately
  • Well-formatted with action links

Push Notifications

  • Browser notifications on desktop
  • Mobile notifications via installed web app
  • Work even when you’re not actively using Golf Management
  • Respect your device’s notification settings

Enabling Push on a Trip

Players opt in per device from the trip portal:

  1. Open the trip portal and go to Settings
  2. Under Notifications, turn on Push Notifications
  3. Accept the browser’s permission prompt

Once enabled, announcements from your trip organizer (schedule changes, tee time updates, and more) arrive on your phone or desktop even when the portal isn’t open. Tapping a notification opens the trip portal directly.

Notes:

  • Each device subscribes separately — enable it on every device you want alerts on
  • If you previously blocked notifications, re-allow them in your browser or device settings and toggle again
  • On iPhone/iPad, install the portal to your home screen first (push requires the installed web app on iOS)
  • You can turn push off anytime from the same toggle

Trip Announcements

Trip organizers can blast a message to every player mid-trip — for example, “Tee time moved to 8:40” — from the trip dashboard’s Communications tab.

Sending an Announcement

  1. Open your trip in the dashboard and go to Communications
  2. In Send Announcement, enter a title and message
  3. Choose delivery channels:
    • In-app — appears in each player’s notification center
    • Push — alerts phones and desktops that enabled push notifications
    • Email — sends a formatted email to every player with an address
  4. Click Send Announcement

All players on the trip receive the announcement on the channels you selected. The result shows how many notifications, pushes, and emails went out.

Scheduling an Announcement

Want a “First tee in 30 minutes” reminder to fire while you’re on the range? Check Schedule for later, pick a date and time, and click Schedule Announcement. The platform delivers it automatically at that time across your selected channels.

Scheduled sends require background job processing (Redis) on the server. If it isn’t available, the platform tells you to send immediately instead — it never silently drops a scheduled announcement.

Customization Features

Granular Control

Enable or disable individual notification types to receive only what matters to you:

  • Toggle each notification type independently
  • Choose delivery channel per notification type
  • Adjust settings anytime from your profile

Quiet Hours

Set periods when notifications are silenced:

  • Define start and end times
  • Push notifications are paused
  • Emails are queued for delivery after
  • Urgent notifications can bypass (configurable)

Email Digests

Reduce email volume with summary notifications:

  • Daily Digest: One email per day with all activity
  • Weekly Digest: One email per week summarizing the week
  • Choose your preferred delivery time
  • Critical notifications bypass digest settings

Privacy & Data

What We Collect

Notifications require minimal data:

  • Your notification preferences (stored in your account)
  • Email address (for email notifications)
  • Push subscription tokens (for push notifications, stored securely)

What We Don’t Do

Your privacy is respected:

  • We never share your contact information with third parties
  • We don’t send marketing emails disguised as notifications
  • We don’t track your location through notifications
  • You can opt out of any notification type at any time

Data Retention

  • Notification content is retained for 90 days
  • Preferences are stored until you delete your account
  • You can request deletion of notification history

Real-Time Delivery

WebSocket Technology

Notifications are delivered in real-time using WebSocket connections:

  • Sub-second delivery for in-app notifications
  • No polling or refresh required
  • Automatic reconnection if connection drops

Reliability

  • Guaranteed delivery for all notification channels
  • Email retry logic for failed deliveries
  • Push notification fallback to email if device unavailable

Best Practices

Round Day Settings

For active golf days, consider:

  • Enable leaderboard change notifications
  • Enable tee time reminders (set to 15-30 minutes before)
  • Turn on push notifications for immediate alerts

Trip Settings

For multi-day golf trips:

  • Enable expense notifications to track spending
  • Enable settlement notifications for timely payments
  • Consider daily digest for non-urgent updates
  • Enable wager notifications if participating in side bets

Reducing Noise

If notifications feel overwhelming:

  • Use email digests instead of instant emails
  • Disable less critical notification types
  • Set up quiet hours for focused time
  • Rely on in-app notifications and check periodically
